Mortgage insurance is simply life insurance that is used to cover the amount of one’s mortgage. There are a number of options that you can choose from:
  1. Term Insurance-- you can get a 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 year term policy, depending on the length of your mortgage. Once the term ends, your insurance ends (ex. a 10 year policy ends after 10 years). This is the least expensive type of policy.
  2. Term Insurance with return of premium-- this is also a term policy, but if gives you a full refund of the premiums you paid in once the term ends (ex--if you do a 20 year policy, after 20 years you get the premium money you paid in back). This is more expensive than just a regular term policy.
  3. Universal Life-- this is the most expensive policy to use because it is guaranteed to stay in force till age 120 (if priced correctly).

Disability Insurance (loss of Income Insurance)

According to a recent report, one in four of today's 20 year-olds will become disabled before they retire.  The average duration of a long-term disability claim is 34.6 months.

While most people tend to think that a "disability" will never happen to them, the truth is everyone faces that possibility every day.

Accidents cause a great number of disabilities each and every year, but the majority of long term absences are caused by back injuries, heart disease,  and other illness.

Your greatest asset is your ability to make money.  Make sure it is protected.
